My story started when I bought the franchise Bricks 4 Kidz® for Ellis County, Texas. Actually, it started before that! Hello, my name is Irene Chomicki. I love God and Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9-10). I love children. And, I love STEM which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEAM with Art added).
I was a Systems Analyst/Computer Programmer for fifteen years. Before that, I grew up, working with my Dad, because my parents owned an A&W Drive Inn franchise in Pampa, Texas, for over twenty years! I was inspired by him! In 1980, I graduated with a music-education degree (magna cum laude) from the University of North Texas (of course, it was NTSU back then, North Texas State University!). Disliking my student-teaching experience and not feeling confident in my piano-playing ability, I took multiple computer-science courses, almost earning a computer-science degree but landing a computer-science job in downtown Dallas instead (two years later a job in downtown Denver)! God led me to the STEM pathway at age 22, even before meeting Him at age 26!
I met and married my husband in Colorado later in life (in my late 30s). God blessed us with two sons. I stayed home with them, where I homeschooled them. After moving to Waxahachie, Texas, in 2007, I became a 4-H club manager and started the All-4-Him 4-H club, leading it for five years. During those years, I learned about and created the 3 Ps: projects, passion, and profession. I saw the correlation between children working on their 4-H projects and discovering (or developing) their passion, potentially leading them to their profession!
God led me to buy the franchise Bricks 4 Kidz® for Ellis County, Texas (Start Date: January 25, 2016)! It is an honor and a privilege to be affecting the next generation by teaching and encouraging them to grow in creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork – AND hopefully helping some to find their STEM pathway earlier in life, compared to me!
